Objectives

The Conference aims at facilitating discussions on the Legacy of the International and internationalized Tribunals, as well as on the preparation of the Review Conference of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

In this perspective, support to the various forms of international criminal justice entail dissemination of full understanding of principles, norms and practices of international Tribunals and Courts, in particular, as they have been developed in the last decade.

Therefore, the Conference will provide a venue for:

  1. discussions on international criminal law issues, with the purpose of clarifying the developments in international justice principles, norms and practice resulting mainly from ad hoc and other forms of temporary international justice, but also from the first implementation of the Rome Statute system,
  2. facilitating preparation for the Review Conference of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court,
  3. advancing discussions and momentum on the definition of the crime of aggression.
