Conference on International Criminal Justice
Welcome to the website of the Conference on International Criminal Justice.
I am the President of the Military Tribunal of Turin, organizer and convener of the Conference.
These web pages tell about the concept, structure and objectives of the Conference, which included discussions on the:
- Legacy of international Tribunals and other forms of internationalized criminal justice, through the analysis of their case-law and practice,
- Development of international criminal and procedural law, since the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court in 1998,
- Review Conference of the Rome Statute, and
- Definition of the Crime of Aggression.
Therefore, the Conference was a stocktaking exercise, which drew on the practice and case-law of international and internationalized jurisdictions.
Contributions from international Judges, Prosecutors and other Officials followed a lessons learned approach, and presented the best practices developed in their jurisdictions, as well as the relevant case-law on genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.
Through these and other contributions, the Conference contributed to understanding of international criminal justice and preparation for the settlement of Legacy issues, and for the Review Conference of the Rome Statute.
